You may feel you are not getting the most out of your life for reasons known or unknown. I work with the unconscious through dreams and imagery to help you connect more fully with yourself, giving you access to your own deeper needs and desires clearing the way for you to change as you chose. Often my way of working appeals to those who are interested in the arts and/or the spiritual realm and those who appreciate deeper ways of working, in safe and supportive relationship.
About me and my practice
I like to work using a psychodynamic approach with an emphasis on imagery, dreams and the imagination as a way to access your deeper self and gain understanding. It can include creative methods such as image making, and consideration. This can then help you make the changes you desire and come to terms with difficulties you have experienced. Experiencing held back feelings, and gaining understanding enables difficult thought and behaviour patterns to dissipate.
I usually work long term with people, some improvement can often be seen quite quickly, though deep change takes time. I work in a unstructured way allowing your unique pathway through your issues, which enables you to work with what you are ready to work with, at a pace that suits you. Deep lasting change is frequently the result.
I work with a wide variety of presenting issues and I work in a gender, sexuality and relationship affirmative way.
Experience
I qualified as a counsellor in 1989 and was in private practice and the voluntary sector with young people for 7 years. My theoretical focus was person-centred, Transational Analysis and Gestalt. I then took a break from the work and focused on family, and spiritual ways of working with personal development.
I returned to the field in 2021 with renewed and extended skills from MSc training in integrative psychotherapy with a focus on psychodynamic work. I am now in private practice working with individual adults generally in a long term way, though short term work is also possible if this more suits your needs.
I am dedicated to ongoing professional training. I hold a certificate in GSRD (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity)2023 and Clinical Jungian and post Jungian clinical concepts 2024.
I am currently studying on an Infant Observation course

Additional Information
My dissertation explored how integrative therapists use their own imagery to deepen the therapeutic relationship and the various ways this can be used ethically and to the clients benefit.
I believe personal analysis enables me to be a robust therapist and to understand first hand the courage it takes to really look at ourselves and make changes, also the immense rewards from doing so, finding a more authentic joyful life in the process.
I have had several sets of personal therapy - including 2 years psychoanalysis in 1990, 4 years psychosynthesis in 2006, Jungian analysis from 2018 to present.
